Dune 2 may have already finished filming, but we’re still learning more about who will appear in the much-anticipated sequel. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tim Blake Nelson (O Brother, Where Art Thou?) has joined the star-studded cast of the sequel.
There is no word on who Nelson will play, however. In any event, he joins the returning cast of Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, and Javier Bardem. Beyond Nelson, other newcomers for the sequel include Florence Pugh (Midsommar), Austin Butler (Elvis), Lea Seydoux (No Time To Die), and Christopher Walken (Catch Me If You Can).
Dune 2 picks up where the first movie left off, adapting additional elements of Frank Herbert’s 1965 novel. The sequel is slated to arrive in theaters on November 3 this year.
The 2021 original Dune was released at a time when Warner Bros. was releasing films in theateras and on HBO Max the same day due to the pandemic. Despite the at-home release, Dune earned more than $400 million worldwide and racked up 10 Oscar nominations. It won six, including Best Production Design, Best Visual Effects, and Best Sound.
Dune 2 wrapped filming in December 2022. The sequel is once again directed by Denis Villeneuve, whose previous credits include Blade Runner 2049, Arrival, Sicario, and Prisoners.
