EA Sports FC 24 Review Roundup

It’s that time of year again: FIFA time. Only this year, EA Sports’ newest entry in the series is called EA Sports FC 24, due to the company’s high-profile breakup with FIFA. The game officially launches on September 29 and ahead of that, reviews have begun to appear online.

While EA no longer works with FIFA, the game still has many of the same clubs, players, and other licensed content from past entries in the franchise. And once again, EA Vancouver developed the game alongside other support studios around the world.

IGN — 7/10

“It might have a new name, but EA Sports FC 24 is just about the same, frustrating but beautiful game that FIFA’s been for many years.” — Andrew McMahon [Full review]

Pure Xbox — 8/10

“EA Sports FC 24 isn’t the big overhaul that some might have expected, but it doesn’t need to be. Instead, it makes subtle but impressive upgrades to most areas of the game, especially in terms of presentation, Ultimate Team and the actual action on the pitch. There’s an argument to say that FIFA 23 is worth sticking with for another year, but if you’re a big fan of the series (and Ultimate Team in particular), we’d say it’s worth your hard-earned money.” — Fraser Gilbert [Full review]

VGC — 3/5

“EA Sports FC 24 isn’t the huge departure that we’d hoped for. While Ultimate Team devotees will likely be happy, the rest of the game feels like an afterthought in the transition away from the FIFA license.” — Jordan Middler [Full review]

Eurogamer — 3/5

“There are improvements, and there are problems – business as usual. The era of EA Sports’ FIFA may be over, but the game goes on.” — Josh Wise [Full review]

GameReactor — 4/10

“EA has seemingly spent more resources on marketing the new name than improving the formula, and it’s therefore very hard to recommend EA Sports FC 24 to all but the most dedicated fans.” — Jakob Hansen [Full review]

GamesRadar — 4.5/5

“There’s room for improvement, which is why that extra half-star remains elusive. But EA Sports FC 24 goes down as a highly accomplished reboot, kicking off the post-FIFA era with precision, power, and no little panache.” — Ben Wilson [Full review]
