People sure do spend a lot of money on Super Bowl commercials–or “The Big Game” since there’s bizarre legalities over saying “Super Bowl” in Super Bowl ads. Millions of dollars are spent getting ads put on television, and on occasion, these ads get released online prior to the NFL championship game. Here are the ones we’ve found so far.
Super Bowl LV takes place on Sunday, February 7 and will see the Patrick Mahomes-led Kansas City Chiefs take on Tom Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However, there is a segment of society that’s just excited about the commercials.
Many times, we’ll get a new movie trailer–like for that highly-anticipated Marvel movie. Who knows how this year will play out since the COVID pandemic has shuffled a bunch of release dates. However, we will see plenty of new companies debut some new commercials. Anheuser-Busch, Pepsi, and Coca-Cola will sit out of this year’s Super Bowl, and this will make way for companies who traditionally aren’t involved in Super Bowl ads to have their spot on the big game.
Leading up to the big game, a few of these commercials have already landed online, and most of them can be found on YouTube. We’ll keep updating this list as the days go on with new ads that pop up. Check them out.
John Travolta Tik Toks
Scotts Miracle-Gro wants you to have the lawn of your dreams–even if it’s completely covered in snow right now. More importantly, it’s a commercial featuring John Travolta doing the dance from the movie Grease, but as a Tik Tok.
Let’s Grab a Beer
While Anheuser-Busch was going to sit out of the Super Bowl, here is their Super Bowl ad. It’s about getting a beer with your friends. You know, that thing the vast majority of us have been able to do and shouldn’t be doing since we’re living in the middle of a pandemic.
Amazon Alexa
Michael B. Jordan stars in the commercial titled “Alexa’s body,” where Alexa gets a body, and it just happens to be Michael B. Jordan’s. A woman has her way with the new Alexa, like finding ways for Jordan to get shirtless or wet, and her husband gets pretty jealous. Check out the full 90-second ad for yourself above.
Bud Light Legends
Over the years, Bud Light has created some classic and memorable ads. In this Endgame-esque commercial, we see a bunch of these characters some to the aid of a downed Bud Light truck, and ultimately killing the Bud Knight. While it was actually a Budweiser ad, it wouldn’t have hurt to throw the Wazzup guys in there.
‘Twas the Night Before Super Bowl
Notorious Skittle-lover Marshawn Lynch narrates the tale of former NFL players preparing to watch the Super Bowl. The Manning brothers are playing catch in the basement, Joe Montana and Jerry Rice won’t let Troy Aikman into the clubhouse, Terry Bradshaw and The Bus, Jerome Bettis are arguing, and Deion Sanders is just being Dieon Sanders–with no actual speaking parts, which is very weird.
Cheetos | It Wasn’t Me
While Shaggy’s song “It Wasn’t Me” is actually about cheating on your significant other–which has led to amusing gifs online–Ashton Kutcher caught Mila Kunis red handed eating Cheetos. But was it her? Yes. Also, Shaggy is in this because why not?
Wayne’s World
Remember Wayne’s World? Well, a teaser ad for Wayne and Garth’s Uber Eats commercial has landed. Neither of them, for legal reasons, can say “Super Bowl.” Enjoy.
WeatherTech
If you’re waiting for the punchline to this WeatherTech commercial, keep waiting because this isn’t supposed to be a funny commercial. But who said all Super Bowl commercials need to be funny? It wasn’t me.
5 to 9 by Dolly Parton – Squarspace
Dolly Parton rerecorded her hit song “9 to 5” to “5 to 9” for this Squarespace commercial. Why work eight hours a day when you can only for four? Well, the song is more about having a side hustle, so instead of working eight hours at your fulltime job, devote four hours to your dance class you run. I don’t get it either, but Dolly Parton makes everything a little bit better.
