The unbearable weight of appearing in everybody’s sleeping fantasies serves as the driving force of Nicolas Cage’s newest movie, Dream Scenario. What seems like a fun viral moment appears to go sideways in the first trailer for the flick, from Everything Everywhere All At Once studio A24.
The teaser shows Cage portraying a professor named Paul Matthews who suddenly starts showing up in everyone’s dreams, including his students and strangers. But his five minutes of fame goes from good to bad when these fantasies turn into nightmares.
Dream Scenario comes from writer and director Kristoffer Borgli and producer Ari Aster (the filmmaker behind Hereditary and Midsommar). Along with Cage, the comedy stars Julianne Nicholson (Weird: The Al Yankovic Story), Michael Cera (Barbie), and Tim Meadows (Mean Girls).
A24 plans to premiere Dream Scenario in select theaters November 10, with a wider release on November 22–the day before Thanksgiving.
Earlier this year, Cage revealed his five favorite movies starring himself, namechecking 2021’s Pig for the list. The actor, however, didn’t mention National Treasure. At the time, he was promoting his role as Dracula in the horror comedy Renfield. On top of movies, Cage appeared as himself this summer in the horror game Dead by Daylight. Someone in his family is a huge fan of the title.
