THQ Nordic will be at Gamescom 2024 and have two currently unannounced games at the showcase, along with Gothic remake, Titan Quest II, and Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed. Fans think that one of the two unannounced games is a new Red Faction.
THQ Nordic gave clues as to what the two games are by providing the number of letters in their titles. While the first game is hard to decipher, the second one has five words and 23 letters in total:
Unannounced game 1: _ _ _ _ _ _Unannounced game 2: _ _ _ [space] _ _ _ _ _ _ _ [space] _ _ _ _ [space] _ _ [space] _ _ _ _ _ _ _
The first word has three letters, and the second one has seven letters. Fans quickly began to realize that “Red” and “Faction” fit. The remaining words are what the subtitle might be.
The Red Faction series made its debut in 2001 and its last mainline entry was Red Faction: Armageddon in 2011. Unfortunately, THQ Nordic at the time said that it’d be dropping the series due to poor sales of Armageddon. However, THQ Nordic revisited the series in 2018 by remastering 2009’s Red Faction: Guerrilla, titled Red Faction: Guerrilla Re-Mars-tered. The series is famous for its destruction mechanics, and it has shifted from being a first-person shooter to a third-person one.
Back in 2019, an Nvidia leak indicated that a new entry, called Red Faction Evolution, was reportedly in development. However, nothing since has materialized. However, many unannounced games that were revealed through Nvidia leaks eventually turned out to be true. Of course, there’s also the possibility that the second unannounced game is not Red Faction at all. Gamescom will take place from August 21-25 this year in Cologne, Germany.
