One of the most sought-after Final Fantasy compilations–Final Fantasy I-VI Pixel Remaster for the Nintendo Switch and PS4–is finally available at major retailers in the US as of today, October 8. The initial print run went up for preorder exclusively at the Square Enix Store in late 2022 and sold out extremely fast. It seems like Square prepared for the huge demand, as you can still buy the Anniversary Edition at multiple retailers, including Amazon and Best Buy. It is currently sold out at Target, though. The Anniversary Edition comes with a sticker sheet of character sprites. All six games are installed on cartridge (Switch) or disc (PS4).

There’s no difference between the two editions other than the sticker sheet that’s included with the Anniversary Edition.

If you pick it up from Amazon this week, don’t forget that Prime Big Deal Days runs October 8-9. While the six Pixel Remaster games can be purchased digitally on the Nintendo eShop and PlayStation Store (and PC/mobile) individually or as a bundle, the physical edition had been hard to come by for a reasonable price until now.

If you haven’t played any of the Pixel Remasters, they offer fairly substantial updates to the first six mainline Final Fantasy games for NES and SNES. The original 2D sprites were enhanced to look sharper, the various game soundtracks were rearranged under the guiding hand of series composer Nobuo Uematsu, and there are numerous quality-of-life updates. The games also came with a few extra features, a bestiary, an illustration gallery, and a music player to enjoy the soundtracks on their own.
