Fire At Game Developer's Office Building Causes Game Delay

Kinetic Games has revealed that it will be delaying the console release of Phasmophobia after a fire broke out in its office space.

“Due to a recent fire incident in our office building and unpredicted development issues, our ability to test and develop has been significantly impacted,” the studio said in a tweet. “After careful consideration we have made the tough decision to delay the console release, initially set for August, while we get everything sorted. We are now aiming for a special launch during the week leading up to Halloween this October.”

Kinetic Games explained that this gives the team extra time to fine tune the game and make sure everything runs smoothly. Fortunately, the team is safe and unharmed. On the studio’s Discord channel, the team clarified that the fire actually broke in a wider office building and didn’t touch their office specifically. It’s just that the team cannot currently access development equipment and are working from home.

During the Xbox Games Extended Showcase this year, Kinetic Games announced that it would be bringing Phasmophobia to consoles. The game has been a huge co-op hit on Steam and Twitch when it was first released on PC back in 2020.

The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions will now launch during the week leading up to Halloween, which is the perfect time for horror games to come out. Notably, the Alone in the Dark reboot and Alan Wake 2 are set to launch on October 25 and 27, respectively.
