First X-Men '97 Trailer Confirms March Release On Disney Plus

X-fans don’t have much longer to wait for X-Men ’97, as the Disney+ animated reboot has a release date. X-Men ’97 was originally announced in November 2021 and since then, audiences have had to keep up with endless rumors circulating on when it would actually drop. The first episode will premiere on March 20.

Marvel released the first trailer Thursday morning, which you can watch below, giving us a glimpse of this X-Men world without Charles Xavier running the school for gifted youngsters and continuing the story of where the original animated series left off.

We get classic X-Men mixed with what was happening during the 1980s where Magneto actually ran the school in Charles’ stead. The trailer also includes a look at Storm in her X-Men uniform, but with a mohawk hairstyle reminiscent of her comic book look in the 1980s. Morph and Bishop have joined the team on a permanent basis as well.

From what we know from images shown at San Diego Comic-Con, the show will lean into previously untouched stories like the formation of the New Mutants as well as possibly the trial of Magneto.

There will be some of the old cast sprinkled in with new members as Cal Dodd, Lenore Zann, George Buza, Catherine Disher, Chris Potter, Alison Sealy-Smith, Adrian Hough, Christopher Britton, and Alyson Court are returning from the original series. Voice actor Ray Chase will replace the late Norm Spencer as Scott Summers/Cyclops. Take a look at the full cast of characters below.
