Fortnite’s latest summer season is going out with a bang thanks to the new Jujutsu Kaisen event and mini-pass, and Chapter 4 Season 4 is right around the corner to bring us a new battle pass, new storylines, possibly the end of Chapter 4, and what’s shaping up to be Fortnite’s biggest collaboration ever. [Update: The new season is live, and we’ve got a rundown on what’s new in Fortnite 4 Chapter 4 Season 4. You can also have a look at the new Season 4 weapons and map changes.]
The teases are out there and we now know a lot about what’s coming–let’s take a look at what we know so far about Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 4.
When does Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 4 begin?
Season 3 will go offline at 2am ET on August 25, and Season 4 should begin a few hours later.
Will there be a live event at the end of Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3?
There has been no indication that any live event will happen to end the season, but that doesn’t preclude an event from occurring the first time you log in after Season 4 begins.
Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 4 Theme: It’s heist season!
The title for Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 4 is Last Resort. And we have a trailer.
We don’t know what all will be involved with these new vaults, but it’s clearly a ramping up from the vaults that have been around the island for the past six months.
Meanwhile, the Battle Royale island is counting down to the end of the season with Slone’s Apparatus–that’s that big cannon-looking thing in the jungle that’s projecting a huge star map in the sky. What it has to do with all this remains unclear.
What’s in the Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 4 battle pass?
We’ve seen every new battle pass skin, but not every style yet. Here’s the lineup:
We’ve got Ahsoka Tano from Star Wars over on the right, and TikTok guy Khaby Lame is third from the left. The large fish guy is Fish Thicc, and the spooky looking winged guy in the middle is a vampire named Kado Thorne, who will serve as this season’s world boss–he has an alt human style as well. And while the guy in the middle may look exactly like Ninja, it’s not Ninja.
While all eight battle pass skins are pictured, we don’t know which one is the bonus skin. But this is a chapter-ending season–in the last two seasons like this, the boss character was the bonus skin.
New map locations in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 4
Thanks to a series of small teases from content creators, we know of some new locations for next season, though we don’t know where on the map they’ll be located. One of those spots is called Relentless Retreat.
Another one is Eclipsed Estates.
Judging by the bridge and the cliffside vibe of this spot, it seems that Eclipsed Estates could be replacing the Citadel on the map.
New weapons and other stuff in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 4
It appears Season 4 will include at least three brand new weapons/devices to Battle Royale: a turret that appears to pop out of a briefcase, a “rocket ram”–likely a rocket that does some kind of knockback effect on players it hits–and a Heist Bag. We have no idea yet what the Heist Bag is for or what it does.
There’s also a new kind of car, marking our third new motor vehicle in Chapter 4 after the Mega City cars and motorcycles were added in Season 2. This one is a muscle car, but not the same kind we had on the Chapter 3 map.
Here’s hoping this will lead to the return of Chonker tires.
Word also says that these new vaults will contain old mythic weapons. Supposedly they’re bringing back Midas’ Drum Gun, The Foundation’s MK-7 and Zyg and Choppy’s Ray Gun (hope you practiced with the Bender version last month), among others.
Is Fortnite x Lego happening in Chapter 4 Season 4?
Fortnite’s collaboration with Lego is officially confirmed, but the details–and specifically the timing–remain murky. But according to dataminers like Wenso, the Lego collab will arrive at the end of Season 4 like the Most Wanted, Star Wars and Jujutsu Kaisen events brought each of their respective seasons to a close.
But apparently this one is gonna be much bigger than any of these mini-passes we’ve gotten in Chapter 4 so far. When Season 4 launches on August 25, it’ll be Fortnite’s version 26.00. While whole numbers are usually reserved for new seasons, Wenso says the Lego update will arrive in November, and it will be version 27.00 despite not actually being a new full season.
We don’t know much about what will actually go into this collaboration, but one of the central concepts will be a “digital twin” mechanic that will allow you to bring Lego creations from real life into Fortnite somehow–that’s that metaverse we’ve been waiting on, baby!
Beyond that, there’s been discussion of a supposed Lego battle royale island, but there’s nothing concrete here yet, and if the Lego event doesn’t start until November then we aren’t likely to learn much else about it before Season 4 begins.
Is Fortnite getting a racing mode in Chapter 4 Season 4?
There’s been a lot of chatter this year about a new mode codnamed DelMar, which will allegedly be an arcade-style kart-racing mode with full vehicle customization and a separate battle pass. That sounds pretty involved and not at all surprising since Epic owns Rocket League developer Psyonix.
Is this coming during Season 4? No one seems to know about the timing of this one, and so this may not happen until after Season 4.
