This week in Fortnite, you’ll be asked to find the crashed plane’s black box. This quest, along with several others, are now live as part of Fortnite’s Season 5, Week 9 challenges. In this guide, we’ll show you where to find the crashed plane and its elusive black box.
Where to find the crashed plane
The crashed plane is located on a beach southeast of Coral Castle. It is a large green cargo plane broken up into several parts. You’ll see the nose of the plane, a large middle section with a wing hanging over a cliff, and a few sections behind that, as well as some debris scattered around. To make it easier, try to dive directly onto this area at the start of the match. You’ll otherwise risk being a sitting duck while others fire from the shore.
If you see other players landing near the broken plane, be courteous and let them complete this quest before you start firing!
Where to find the black box
You can find the black box among the debris between the middle section of the plane with the wing and a piece of the back section. Don’t confuse it with one of the large black suitcases or cargo containers also near the wreckage–the black box will look like a large tape machine or recorder.
Remember that it’s not enough to just locate the black box. In order to finish the quest, you’ll have to approach the black box and interact with it, which will take a second to complete.

It looks like we could be seeing GI Joe’s Snake Eyes as the next guest character. With a film scheduled to release that stars the hero later this year, it’s certainly a sensible addition.
