Fortnite Now Has An FFXIV-Style Raid, Thanks To Fans

Fortnite already has a reputation for Infinity War-like crossovers, but this one comes from Creative Mode instead of of Epic Games itself. Fortnite Creative user sigrs created a Final Fantasy XIV-like boss raid that players need to squad up to defeat. It’s known as the Doomsday: Raid Boss Battle, a co-op PvE mode that pits players against a humanoid, spike-adorned boss with a menacing grin.

“Join forces, evade numerous lethal attacks, and overcome the boss’s ultimate attack,” reads the Fortnite Creative page.

Now Playing: How Final Fantasy XIV SAVED Itself!

The Doomsday: Raid Boss Battle prompts players to pick one of three classes for the fight and allows you to play with up to six players. You can apparently retry from a checkpoint if you wipe out before the battle ends. It isn’t just about adding a boss that looks like a FF enemy, though. Admirers also noted the style that it takes from its award-winning MMO inspiration.

“Overlapping AOE geometries… check. Big boss in front of a floating square or circle arena… check. Scrub dies within the first few seconds to the first mechanic… check,” one Redditor observed.

Mlick, one of the Twitter users to spread the word about the raid, suggests bringing at least two healers and one tank. At the time, they were also experiencing a bug that didn’t let players finish the raid if a party member KO’d, so beware.

“This is incredibly well thought out. You can’t really f*** around, as we quickly learned,” they wrote.

Anyone who wants to take on the FFXIV-style Fortnite raid with their friends can find it with the code 8699-5345-4889. You can also add the mode to your favorites so that it’s easier to find for future playthroughs.

Fortnite is available for free on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Android. You can technically play it on iOS using a subscription like Nvidia GeForce, but it probably won’t be back on the App Store anytime soon because of the Apple vs. Epic drama.
