Epic has brought back one of its incentive programs to encourage players to return to Fortnite after some time away. Fortnite Reboot A Friend offers a range of rewards to players who invite and play with friends from their in-game friends list, with a bonus for those who get lapsed players to come back to the game.
The program uses event-specific points which players can earn until all four cosmetic items have been unlocked. Players who invite and play with friends who haven’t played Fortnite in over 30 days will instantly earn a 100-point bonus, but even players who still regularly play the game can unlock these items; they only miss out on this initial surge of points. Additional games played with folks invited in-game will earn 10 points per match, no matter if they’ve never played before, play it every day, or anything in between.
The unlockable items include the Toxic Flash Glider, Heartbeat Wrap, Plasma Carrot Pickaxe (in blue and red Styles), and Reboot Spray. Epic did specify that these items “may be made available to players elsewhere at another date,” but for now, Reboot A Friend is the only way to unlock them. The publisher also suggested these items may not be free should they reappear later, so this may be the only way to unlock them without spending V-Bucks. Once earned, they’ll appear in your Inventory within one week.
Reboot A Friend will be active until April 25, 2021 at 11:59 PM PT / April 26, 2021 at 2:59 AM ET. For more on Fortnite, today is the last day you can forage Bouncy Eggs and complete this week’s Legendary Quest.
