Another thing to know is Detective Pikachu is part of Amazon’s buy two, get one free program on eligible Blu-rays, so you can pick out a couple more to get three movies for the price of two right now. Detective Pikachu’s 4K version, meanwhile, is available for $15.

The movie stars Justice Smith and Ryan Reynolds as the voice of Pikachu, along with Kathryn Newton, Bill Nighy, and Ken Watanabe. Rob Letterman, who also directed the movies Shark Tale, Gulliver’s Travels, and Goosebumps, helms the film.

The 2019 movie earned $450 million worldwide at the box office and solid reviews, but a sequel hasn’t materialized yet. In 2023, there was a promising update on the follow-up, but it still remains to be seen if the movie will ever be made.
