God Of War And Horizon TV Shows Announced – Report

Sony is making moves to expand some of its biggest video game franchises with TV show adaptations. During the Q&A of Sony’s latest earnings presentation, the company announced two new TV shows.

As relayed by analyst David Gibson, a God of War TV series is coming to Amazon, while a Horizon series is being made for Netflix. A Gran Turismo TV show is also in the works, but Sony did not announce a service or network for this. [Update: Deadline reports that Gran Turismo is being made into a movie, not a TV show] In May 2021, a Sony spokesperson confirmed that a God of War TV series was not happening, but plans can always change, as they now have.

GameSpot has followed up with PlayStation in an attempt to get more details on the newly announced shows.

All of these shows will be produced in part by PlayStation Productions, the business unit at Sony responsible for bringing PlayStation games to TV and film. Sony said in May 2021 that it had 10 TV shows/movies based on its games in the works, and these three additional properties add to the existing ones we know about.

They include the recently released Uncharted movie with Tom Holland, as well as the upcoming Ghost of Tsushima movie from John Wick’s Chad Stahelski, HBO’s The Last of Us series, and the Twisted Metal show from the writers of Bob’s Burgers.

Assuming the number is still 10 for TV shows/movies based on PlayStation properties that are now in the works, there are still at least three more that we don’t know about. Keep checking back with GameSpot for the latest.
