God Of War For PC Is Being Ported By An Outside Studio

Sony is bringing 2018’s God of War to PC, and now we know what studio is handling it. A spokesperson for Sony told Ars Technica that Jetpack Interactive is developing the game, with original developer Sony Santa Monica overseeing the production.

Jetpack Interactive is based in Vancouver and has contributed to a number of EA games, including Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare II and NBA Live 16. The studio also helped with engineering support for Bandai Namco’s Dark Souls.

Now Playing: God Of War (2018) PC Announcement Trailer

It appears this is the first time that Jetpack is working with Sony.

Earlier this year, Sony acquired PC port specialist studio Nixxes Software, leading many to believe Sony’s future PC games might be handled by that studio. It remains to be seen what Nixxes will be working on with Sony going forward.

God of War is coming to PC in January 2022 through Steam and the Epic Games Store, where it will cost $50. The game has sold 19.5 million copies on PS4 alone, making it a massive success that will only get bigger with the release on PC next year.

Sony has been making an effort to release more of its games on PC of late, with titles like Horizon Zero Dawn and Days Gone already released on PC. Looking ahead, Sony is bringing Uncharted 4 to PC in 2022. Sony’s strategy is different from Microsoft’s however, as the Xbox company releases all of its first-party games on PC day and date with their console edition.

A God of War sequel, God of War: Ragnarok, is scheduled for release in 2022.
