Grab A PS5 SSD For As Little As $70 With These Prime Day Deals

It’s no secret that video games are hogging up more space than ever on your consoles and PC, but at least Prime Day has some great discounts on SSDs for these platforms. Installing one is very easy thanks to their plug-and-play nature, and once you’ve inserted a fresh SSD into your system, you’ll (probably) have enough space for the new Call of Duty or GTA 6.

For this deal, PS5 owners will want to check out the Samsung range, like the always-reliable Samsung 980 and 990 Pro SSDs. The 1TB 980 Pro has been discounted by almost 50%, and this SSD offers up to 3500MB/s read speeds and up to 3400MB/s (500GB) write speeds. This SSD doesn’t come with a heatsink, but these are very affordable and you can get one for $12.

Alternatively, there is the 1TB Samsung 990 Pro with a heatsink included for $110 (normally $175). These offer up to 40% improved read speeds and up to 55% improved write speeds while using less power. If you need more storage capacity, you can pick up a 2TB version ($150, normally $265) or even a 4TB SSD ($300, normally $400) to future-proof your PS5 or PC for future game releases.

The Lexar 1TB NM790 is another good option to consider, in case the Samsung SSDs sell out. It’s $10 cheaper than the Samsung 980 Pro, you get a heatsink with it, and its performance is almost on par with the 990 Pro. Another good 1TB SSD is the Nextorage for $80, and it includes a heatsink. It has a maximum read speed of 7400MB/s and a maximum write speed of 6100MB/s, and if 1TB isn’t big enough, there’s a 2TB version for $136.

Lastly, several Western Digital SSDs are also on sale. They all come with heatsinks and prices range from $93 for a 1TB SSD to $298 for a 4TB version. They’re officially licensed for PS5 consoles, so they should all work without issue.

Xbox owners can also snag some Prime Day deals on storage upgrades, with the standout deal being the WD Black 512GB C50 Xbox expansion card for $64 (it was $80). This is the lowest price to date we’ve seen for the expansion card, and you can also pick up the 1TB model for $120 (was $150), another record-low discount.
