Halo Is Getting The Tabletop Game Treatment This September

The Halo series has a new game planned for release in 2024, but this one isn’t a video game. 343 Industries has partnered with Manic Games to create a new miniatures-based tabletop Halo game, and we’ll get our first official look at it very soon.

The new Halo tabletop game–currently untitled–will feature miniature Spartan supersoldiers, though it’s unclear exactly how it will fit into the larger Halo universe or what other elements it will incorporate, such as vehicles or Covenant races.

“Having a firefight play out on the table while moving Spartans in and out of cover connects players to the action in a new and special way,” Mantic Games CEO Ronnie Renton said in a press release. “We have a thrilling and competitive game, from a passionate team of talented sculptors, artists, and designers who have been building an incredible Halo experience.”

Halo tabletop game previews will begin in March, with the full game planned for launch in September. The game will not actually be the first tabletop Halo experience–a line called Halo ActionClix was released just prior to Halo 3 in 2007. The game featured Spartans, vehicles, and aliens like Hunters to battle against UNSC forces. ActionClix was discontinued the following year.

The Halo series has continued, of course, both with ongoing updates to Halo Infinite and the upcoming second season of the Halo Paramount+ series. Xbox executives are being hush-hush about the existence of a Halo Infinite sequel.
