HBO has officially announced that The Last of Us has been renewed and will return for a second season. Additionally, HBO announced that the series premiere of The Last of Us has now surpassed 22 million viewers in the US alone, which is the network’s second-biggest debut after the Game of Thrones spinoff House of the Dragon.
“I’m humbled, honored, and frankly overwhelmed that so many people have tuned in and connected with our retelling of Joel and Ellie’s journey. The collaboration with Craig Mazin, our incredible cast & crew, and HBO exceeded my already high expectations,” game director and executive producer of the show Neil Druckmann said. “Now we have the absolute pleasure of being able to do it again with season two!
