Henry Cavill is set to star in and executive produce adaptations of the Warhammer 40k series, but according to the actor, it isn’t just another role for him. He’s a huge Warhammer fan and recently spoke about the “privilege” of getting to bring it to life.
In an interview with Josh Horowitz, Cavill expressed how working on Warhammer has been something he’s always dreamed of: “It is the greatest privilege of my professional career to have this opportunity.”
Cavill said that since the project is still in its early stages, there’s not much he can share. But he reassured fans that the series will be as faithful as possible to the source material.
“To have this opportunity to bring it to the screen and be at the tiller so it can be faithful is key to me,” Cavill said. “This is the stuff I’ve been dealing with since I was a kid. This is sort of the stuff I spend my free time daydreaming about as an adult as well and I get to bring it into life. There is no reason than I join the industry than doing something like, and I’m very happy to be here.”
Late last year, Amazon and Games Workshop, the owner of Warhammer 40k, had finalized a deal that would see a TV series and movies produced. Although not much is known about how the franchise will make this transition, Cavill did share some information late last month by saying, “Big things are happening, and we are very excited.”
