With 2023 coming to a close, the awards season is in full swing. Google is one of the first to make its choices known, as the company has announced the Google Play Best Of 2023 Awards for games, general apps, and more.
Among the winning games is Honkai: Star Rail–which won Best Story over honorable mentions including Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis and Down In Bermuda–and Pokemon Sleep, which took the “Best Games For Good” award over Beecarbonize, Longleaf Valley, and more. The Users’ Choice Award, the only award of the group voted on by players, was given to Monopoly Go.
ChatGPT–the controversial AI program from OpenAI–was voted Users’ Choice for general apps, and it also received an honorable mention for the Best With AI award. Other general app winners Paw Patrol Academy for the Best With Families award, and Artifact: Feed Your Curiosity as the Best Hidden Gem.
