Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III arrives on November 10, but the campaign is already playable for people who preordered the military shooter. Many have already completed the game, which means the game’s estimated length is beginning to come into focus. Here’s everything we know about Modern Warfare III’s campaign length, as well as its mission list and completion rewards.
How long to beat Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III
Those who have completed the game so far have done so in around 4-5 hours. Here at GameSpot, we completed it in around 4-5 hours and would estimate that to be the range for most standard playthoughs. This applies to a main campaign-only playthrough and does not factor in a 100% run where every discoverable item is found. Players are also free to skip cutscenes, which would speed up the completion clock.
Call of Duty’s campaigns are usually in the range of 4-7 hours. Though any estimation is never perfect, this is what we expect the runtime for Modern Warfare III to be based on our own playthrough and social media reports. Everyone plays games differently, though.
Modern Warfare III has multiple difficulty settings and a new type of campaign mission structure that encourages replayability. Additionally, upon completing a mission, the game lets you know how many weapons and other discoverables you found, which encourages players to go back to get more by replaying missions. As such, your mileage may vary, and any estimation of total length may not represent your own experience.
Once you do finish the Modern Warfare III campaign, be sure to stick around for a mid-credits cutscene–you don’t want to miss it.
Open Combat Missions
New for Modern Warfare III are what’s called Open Combat Missions. These are more open-ended missions where players explore a large, open area and can pursue objectives at their own pace and in their own way. A player attempting a stealthy run might take much longer than someone who goes in guns blazing with reckless abandon, for example. Not only that, but as mentioned, these Open Combat Missions lend themselves being played again and again, perhaps more so than the more traditional and linear missions that Call of Duty is known best for. It’s worth noting, too, that Modern Warfare III has its fair share of the more on-rails missions that fans have come to know.
Modern Warfare 3 mission list and campaign rewards
There are 15 missions in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III. Activision is encouraging people to complete them by offering up rewards for getting through them–you can see the campaign mission list and rewards below.

What’s the story?
Modern Warfare III is a direct sequel to 2022’s Modern Warfare II. Task Force 141 is back in action, and the squad is gearing up and working together to take down the villain Makarov. Players travel around the world, and suit up as multiple different playable characters in a variety of settings. The game also has another No Russian-style shocking mission.
Multiplayer, Zombies, and more
Modern Warfare III includes the campaign, as well as multiplayer and Zombies modes. Multiplayer is meant to be played over and over and over, and Zombies is historically a highly replayable mode as players learn new tactics and work together to take down the undead.
