Many of the most important machines you use in Stardew Valley to turn raw crops and animal products into artisan goods have to be crafted. Most of the materials to do so are pretty common, but some, like oak resin, take a large amount of time to acquire. Here’s how you can get oak resin so you can start stockpiling.
How to get Oak Resin
Tapper
Oak Resin is acquired from Oak Trees by using a tapper. Tappers are unlocked at foraging level 4 and require 40 wood and 2 copper bars. Tappers take seven days to produce oak resin when placed on an oak tree. There are three primary types of trees that appear around both your farm and other areas in Stardew Valley: Pine, Oak, and Maple. The image above shows all three types of trees and which is which.

Heavy tapper
There is an upgraded version of the tapper called the heavy tapper, which can be unlocked on Ginger Island, which is reachable after completing either the community center bundles or the Joja Mart development purchases. The heavy tapper works much faster, producing oak resin in just three days. Tappers produce year-round and you can leave them on trees indefinitely,
What is oak resin used for?
Oak resin is needed for some community center bundles and is primarily used to produce kegs, which can turn crops into artisan goods, like juice or wine. Each keg requires one oak resin, making it a valuable resource if you want to mass produce artisan goods.
