Humble Celebrates The Best Of Boomer Shooters With New Bundle Deal

If you’ve been feeling nostalgic for the ’90s, this new Humble Bundle with a treasure trove of boomer shooters might satiate your hunger for fast-paced action from a bygone era. Games in this genre prioritize speed, precision, and turning enemies into giblets, and with several excellent entries in this growing category, now is a good time to experience exciting love letters to the likes of Doom and Quake.

Pay $18 or more and you’ll get all seven games in this bundle. These are all great games, but the best in this collection are Prodeus, Ultrakill, Turbo Overkill, and Quake 2. Prodeus is a pretty terrific title to go into completely blind, as its mixture of old-school visuals with modern rendering effects creates a very unique effect. It also has non-stop action, co-op gameplay, multiplayer, and a level editor featuring some fun submissions from its community.

Ultrakill is not for the faint of heart, as this game is an ultraviolent old-school first-person shooter that plays like a mix of Doom 2016 and Devil May Cry. It assaults your eyeballs with its retro graphics, throws challenging waves of cannon fodder at you, and every level feels like a delightful meat grinder once you get into the flow of things.

Lastly, Turbo Overkill is an over-the-top homage to the past, one that feels like the child of Tony Hawk Pro Skater and Evil Dead. You’ve got a chainsaw for a leg, the world is conveniently slippery, and legions of enemies to cut down to size when you’re not unleashing a barrage of firepower in their general direction.

Like other Humble Bundles, proceeds from this collection of boomer shooters will go toward supporting various charities. The Childs Play Charity–an initiative to provide gaming opportunities for sick children in hospitals–and The Trevor Project will benefit from sales of this bundle.

Humble also offers a monthly selection of games as part of its Humble Choice subscription service, and this month, you can pick up Nioh 2, Saints Row, and a few more games. Like previous months, these games will be yours to own forever after you claim them, even if you decide to cancel your $12 monthly membership.
