More content is on the way for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity this year. As revealed during Nintendo’s February 2021 Direct presentation, the Zelda musou spin-off is getting an Expansion Pass, which will introduce new weapons, characters, stages, and more to the game.
The Expansion Pass is divided up into two waves of content. The first will arrive in June and expands the game’s roster and introduces new weapon types, challenges, and more challenging enemies. The second wave will follow this November and adds “new character vignettes” as well as more stages, characters, and battle skills.

Now Playing: Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity Expansion Pass Trailer | Nintendo Direct
The Expansion Pass costs $20 USD. As an extra bonus for purchasing the pass, players will get a new weapon and costume for Link. These will be available starting May 28.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity launched for Switch back in November 2020 and has been a big sales success. Not only was it one of Amazon’s top 10 best-selling games of 2020, it is also the best-selling musou game of all time, according to Koei Tecmo.
We scored the Zelda spin-off a 6/10 in our Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity review. “Despite how much I’d invested in this version of Hyrule and the nagging feeling of leaving things unchecked on a map left me with, I stopped taking on side missions, stopped helping people build up Hyrule and prepare for the Calamity. I had started out completely on board with seeing Age of Calamity’s story through, being with the citizens of Hyrule until the bitter end, and just killing some baddies. By the end, I was doing these tasks more out of obligation than anything else,” critic Suriel Vazquez wrote.
That wasn’t the only Zelda announcement during the Direct. Nintendo revealed it is releasing Skyward Sword HD on Switch this July. We also got a non-update on the Breath of the Wild sequel, but Nintendo teased it would have more news to share on that game later this year.
