James Gunn’s new Superman film has crossed a major development milestone, as principal photography has wrapped. Gunn celebrated the achievement with a heartfelt message on social media where he thanked the cast and crew for their commitment, creativity, and hard work to get the movie made.
“I set out to make a movie about a good man in a world that isn’t always so much. And the goodness and kindness and love I’ve encountered on a daily basis on the set has inspired me and thrust me forward when I felt too spent to move on my own,” he said. “Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. It has been an honor. The destination has been Superman, but the journey has been the toil and the laughter and the emotions and ideas and magic we’ve shared together on set–and for that I am forever grateful.”
Accompanying his statement, Gunn shared a photo of himself and the cast from the first week of filming in Svalbard, Norway.
David Corenswet celebrated Superman coming to a wrap by sharing a video of himself munching on what looks to be a very tasty brownie or something like that. Corenswet was no doubt on a strict exercise and diet program for Superman, so the brownie might signal a return to regular eating for the actor.
While filming is now finished for Superman, the movie surely has CG and visual effects sequences that are still being done. The film releases in theaters in July 2025.
In addition to Corenswet as Superman, the film features Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.
