In the world of John Wick, The Continental Hotel is a neutral ground where assassins, even if feuding, can sit for a moment and take a break between missions. The New York location is run by a man named Winston, played by Ian McShane, who has acted as a mentor to John in the films. Now, with The Continental mini-series from Peacock directed and executive produced by Albert Hughes (Dead Presidents, The Book of Eli), we’ll get a look at the early days of Winston and the iconic hotel.
Announced back in April of 2021, we finally got our first tease of the series this past April with details still vague, but we now have an official release: Friday, September 22. The second episode will air the following week, and the finale the week after that.
The news was announced during the show’s San Diego Comic-Con panel that featured Hughes, executive producer Marshall Persinger, action director Larnell Stovall, production designer Drew Boughton, and editor Ron Rosen.
The exact details of the show are still minimal at best, with it focusing on Winston taking over the hotel and making it his own. In the teaser, we got a glimpse at past killers who have stayed at the hotel and a brief appearance of Colin Woodell at the end, who plays the younger Winston.
Woodell is joined by Ayomide Adegun, who will portray a young Charon (based on Lance Reddick’s character); Peter Greene, who dons the fedora of Uncle Charlie (based on the tight-lipped body disposal expert); Mel Gibson as Cormac; Ben Robson as Frankie; Hubert Point-Du Jour as Miles; Jessica Allain as Lou; Mishel Prada as KD; and Nhung Kate as Yen.
The Continental is the first spin-off from the world of John Wick, with Ana de Armas’ Ballerina movie hitting theaters next summer.
