Earlier this week, Konami’s Silent Hill Showcase offered fans a look at the upcoming remake of Silent Hill 2 as well as the new movie, Return to Silent Hill, which is based on the same story. While there wasn’t a lot of footage from Return to Silent Hill during the event, a trailer is apparently closer than we believed. Now, Konami has dropped the first teaser for the trailer which features some familiar creatures from the game.
Pyramid Head and the Dark Nurses are returning from the original movies. However the story isn’t directly connected to either of the two previous films. Instead, the focus is now on James Sunderland (Jeremy Irvine), a man who has received a letter from his wife, Mary (Hannah Emily Anderson), telling him to meet her in Silent Hill. That should be impossible, since Mary has been dead for years. But inside that town, reality has a way of breaking down into something far more sinister.
Konami also shared a longer behind-the-scenes video from Return to Silent Hill with returning co-writer and director Christophe Gans. Among the insights shared here, Gans reveals that every monster or creature in the film is portrayed by a dancer. And their movements are unsettling even when they aren’t covered in makeup or replaced by CGI.
Return to Silent Hill doesn’t currently have a release date.
