The upcoming live-action Peter Pan movie continues to add to its cast, with news today that comedian and actor Jim Gaffigan has signed on to play Hook’s sidekick, Mr. Smee.
The Wrap reported the news, and Gaffigan himself seemingly confirmed it by retweeting the website’s news story about it.
Bill Thompson voiced Smee in Disney’s 1953 animated classic Peter Pan, while Bob Hoskins portrayed the character in 1991’s Hook.
Gaffigan will be seen opposite Jude Law, who is playing Hook in the film–which is officially titled Peter Pan & Wendy. Alexander Molony will play Peter Pan while Ever Anderson is set to star as Wendy. Yara Shahidi has signed on to play Tinkerbell.
Pete’s Dragon director David Lowery is attached to direct the film from a script that he co-authored with Toby Halbrooks.
Peter Pan & Wendy will premiere on Disney+ but a release date has not been announced yet. It is one of many upcoming live-action films that Disney has in the works based on a classic franchise, adding to Cruella, The Little Mermaid, Pinocchio, and Bambi, among others.
