The next Madden game will be announced this week, release in August, and include a $100 premium edition that gets players into the game a few days early. That’s according to a leak from billbil-kun (via VGC), who has a solid track record for reporting on unannounced video game news.
The game will be announced on May 16, the report said, and that’s the same day that the official countdown clock for EA Sports College Football expires. So EA may have two big football announcements to make that day.
The report said Madden NFL 25 will launch on August 16, but people who buy the Deluxe edition or subscribe to EA Play can begin playing on August 12. This is standard procedure for Madden games, as EA is known to give early access to people who spend more money.
The report said Madden NFL 25’s standard edition will go for $70, with the Deluxe edition selling for $100. The story didn’t have any information on who might be the cover star for Madden NFL 25, however, though the report said the cover star may be announced after the game is.
This year’s Madden game could have the same name as 2013’s Madden title, which was also called Madden NFL 25 due to its celebration of the franchise’s 25th anniversary. It remains to be seen how EA might address that this year.
In other Madden news, Prime Video just announced a four-part documentary series about the video game franchise. Camera crews visited Madden’s developer and the documentary will dig into the history of the franchise and the making of the latest entry in the series.
Expectations are always high for the newest Madden games, and that’s no different this year. The franchise is a sales juggernaut, regularly ranking among the best-selling games of the year. In 2023, Madden NFL 24 was the No. 3 best-selling game in the US.
