Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics officially launches tomorrow, September 12, but you can start playing tonight at 9 PM PT / 12 AM ET. If you’re eager to dive into the compilation of seven classic fighting games, make sure to check out Fanatical’s preorder deal on the PC edition. Instead of paying $50 to Steam, you can snag a Steam key for $41.

The collection is also launching tonight on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation consoles. An Xbox edition is planned for 2025. Unfortunately, the physical edition for Switch and PS4 doesn’t launch until November 22. In better news, the physical edition comes with a very cool bonus. For a limited time, physical edition preorders include a new 32-page comic book starring characters who appear in the seven-game collection.

Preorders for the physical edition are priced the same as the digital version, and since the comic book is only available in limited quantities, it’d be wise to preorder if you really want that bonus. You can preorder the collection for either platform at Amazon, Walmart, and Best Buy. The comic book is only available with the physical edition.

Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics

$50

The collection comes with seven fighting games:

The Punisher (1993)X-Men: Children Of The Atom (1994)Marvel Super Heroes (1995)X-Men vs. Street Fighter (1996)Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter (1997)Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash Of Superheroes (1998)Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age Of Heroes (2000)

Similar to Capcom’s other retro compilations, the games are accompanied by a time capsule of extra content. You’ll get all the music from the original arcade releases, behind-the-scenes art, and some helpful gameplay assists like one-button combos if you’re new to these games.

Note: The physical PlayStation version is for PS4 and PS5.

If you enjoy the collection but want to relive the full arcade experience, Arcade1Up’s Marvel vs. Capcom 2 – X-Men ’97 arcade machine released earlier this year. The $500 home arcade cabinet comes with eight games. A few of the games are also in the new collection, but it has several titles you won’t find in Arcade Classics. You can check out more details on the cabinet below.

The Marvel fighting games in the compilation haven’t been seen for quite some time on console. Each game is a showcase of ’90s fighting game magic, as Capcom’s collection of brawlers featured fast-paced action, fantastic pixel art character designs, and rock-solid gameplay designed to liberate coins from your pockets. If you’re looking to go online, the games will support rollback netcode, casual matches, and ranked play. Perfect for anyone looking to reawaken some muscle memory in their thumbs.

For something a little different, The Punisher is an action game in the same vein as Final Fight and Streets of Rage, as Frank Castle plies his deadly trade against an army of cannon fodder and Marvel villains. Minus its Sega Genesis port, The Punisher has skipped several console generations, so it’s nice to finally see it revived for modern systems.

Arcade1Up Marvel vs. Capcom 2 X-Men '97 Edition Deluxe Cabinet

$500

The Arcade1Up Marvel vs. Capcom 2 X-Men ‘97 Edition is packed with all the features you’d expect from Arcade1Up’s Deluxe cabinets. This includes online multiplayer, a 17-inch color display, a light-up coin door, and gorgeous X-Men artwork. You’ll get access to eight games with the cabinet:

Marvel vs Capcom 2Marvel vs Capcom 1Marvel Super Heroes vs Street FighterX-Men vs Street FighterMarvel Super HeroesX-Men Children of the ATOMX-Men Mutant ApocalypseMarvel Superheroes in War of the Gems

If this list sounds familiar, that’s because the discontinued original Marvel vs. Capcom 2 Arcade1Up cabinet has the same exact games. The difference between the two is the cabinet artwork. The original cabinet focused on Marvel vs. Capcom 2, while the new one features X-Men instead. It is worth noting that the X-Men cabinet retails for $100 less than the original
