Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Release Date Didn't Leak From GameStop After All

Following a social media post that appeared to show an unannounced November 17 release date for Metal Gear Solid Delta, retailer GameStop has admitted that its date was incorrect–we still don’t know when the game is coming out.

In a now-deleted post on X (formerly Twitter), the video game retailer wrote, “Prepare to slay in Metal Gear Solid [Delta]: Snake Eater. Where stealth & survival meet savagery! Coming 11.17.” That release date of November 17 hasn’t been posted anywhere else and GameStop’s own website has a placeholder date of December 31, 2025, listed as the game’s release. The post was up for over an hour before being deleted. Its follow-up clarified that any official release information will come via Konami.

It’s important to point out that November 17, 2004 was the release date of the original Metal Gear Solid 3, so it’s possible someone simply saw that date and believed it was for the remade version. November 17 falls on a Sunday this year, which would be abnormal for a video game release, as they typically release on Tuesday or Friday.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater did make an appearance at the Xbox Games Showcase on Sunday, where it got a new gameplay trailer, but no date was given at the event. Preorders for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, both the normal version and the collector’s edition, also went live recently.
