Minecraft Native PS5 Version Teased Alongside Major Game Changes

In honor of Minecraft’s 15th anniversary, Mojang released a blog post revealing how the studio plans to support the game in the future. This includes bringing in a new PlayStation 5 version, regularly adding new content for players, the fate of the mob vote, and more.

Although the post didn’t go into too much detail, it did mention that the studio is actively working on bringing a “version of Minecraft” to the PlayStation 5. It’s also worth pointing out that PS5 users can play the native current-gen version of the game, but to do so, they must go into the game setting and select “Preview” to test it out.

Now Playing: A Minecraft Movie | Official Reveal Teaser

In addition to the PS5 version of the game, Mojang ensured fans that the studio plans on “releasing a number of free game drops throughout the year,” as opposed to the one free update players would get during the summer. However, not all of them will be as big as the Tricky Trials update.

The studio revealed that it plans to retire the Mob vote, which has been controversial within the Minecraft community for some time. Instead of having the yearly vote as it used to, Minecraft Live will now be “a more focused broadcast, and it will happen twice per year.”

Just the other day, the Minecraft movie trailer was revealed. On top of showing off the cast, it was riddled with various Easter eggs from the game.
