Legendary baseball player Jackie Robinson, who broke the color barrier in baseball, will grace the cover of MLB The Show 21‘s various premium editions, PlayStation has announced.
The premium versions include the Collector’s Edition, the Jackie Robinson Edition, the Jackie Robinson Deluxe Edition, and the Digital Deluxe Edition. PlayStation and developer San Diego Studio will donate $1 to the Jackie Robinson Foundation for every copy sold in the US through the end of 2021.
As for what’s included in the premium bundles, one of the biggest perks is that you can start playing four days early, starting on April 16.
The Jackie Robinson Deluxe Edition ($100) comes with a New Era 9FIFTY Jackie Robinson hat and a SteelBook case, along with a digital version of the hat for use in the Diamond Dynasty mode. The premium editions also come with various in-game DLC including allotments of Stubs and Diamond/Gold packs for the game’s Ultimate Team-style mode.
Below you’ll find a full breakdown of the various editions of MLB The Show 21, as compiled by PlayStation. All versions are available across PlayStation and Xbox consoles, per the new agreement between PlayStation, Microsoft, and Major League Baseball.
A big thing to note here is that the only way to get both the current-gen and next-gen edition of MLB The Show 21 in one package is to buy one of the premium bundles. The standard edition does not include a free upgrade path to the next-gen version. Also of note is that if you buy the physical Jackie Robinson Edition or the physical Jackie Robinson Deluxe Edition you get the current-gen version on a disc and a download voucher for the next-gen edition.
