It appears this year’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III will bring back maps from 2009’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II. CharlieIntel said it texted the Call of Duty marketing campaign phone number and received confirmation that all 16 maps from the 2009 game will be in Modern Warfare III.
This follows a leak from earlier in the week that said Modern Warfare III would include the 16 maps at launch. The maps include Highrise, Sub Base, Estate, Terminal, Wasteland, Afghan, Rust, Underpass, Invasion, Karachi, Quarry, Skid Row, Scrapyard, Favela, and Derail.
A remastered version of 2009’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II was released in 2020, but it only included the campaign and didn’t have any multiplayer support. With the release of the maps for Modern Warfare III, it seems fans are finally getting what they wanted, in a way at least.
Back in 2020, Activision alluded to bringing classic Call of Duty maps to the Modern Warfare universe eventually.
“Activision and Infinity Ward are looking to bring more classic map experiences to new life within the Modern Warfare universe as it continues to grow and build over time,” the publisher said at the time.
Modern Warfare III launches on November 10, and it will be officially unveiled as part of an event inside Warzone on August 17. Keep checking back with GameSpot for the latest.
