Some of the Mortal Kombat characters are showing up as new variations, notably Sektor and Cyrax are both now women. In addition, instead of being full cyborgs, both characters are now just humans wearing armored suits. This is a nice touch to make these characters stand out more and it stands in line with how Mortal Kombat 1 takes place in a new rebooted universe.
All of these characters are part of the Khaos Reigns expansion, which is scheduled to release on September 24. Not only does the expansion introduce new characters to the game’s ever-growing roster, but it also features a new story that picks up after the events of Mortal Kombat 1, with Havok being the new big bad.
Last but not least, Khaos Reigns brings Animalities back to Mortal Kombat. Animalities are special finishers that see your character turn into various animals and brutally eat, eviscerate, or puncture your opponent. They essentially serve as a new form of fatality that players can perform at the end of each game.
