Wake up babe, NBA 2K23 ratings are here. Visual Concepts’ latest dissertation on dropping dimes arrives this week, Friday September 9th, and as a part of their own #2KDay Countdown with brand spotlights, 2K Beats, and J. Cole’s Dreamer Edition, they have offered a first look at the official 2K23 overalls–highlighting rising stars, top rookies, and which new shooters are going to swoosh.
The NBA made some noise this summer with LeBron going Drew League and back to the Lake Show, Giannis having dad jokes, Derrick Rose being the internet’s “Most Loved” MVP, Trae Young sharing a few scenes from Rico Hines’ UCLA runs, and Donovan Mitchell skipping Knicks threads for Ohio, and because of that, 2K ratings will forever be a status symbol. They set the bar for the season ahead and while our predictions were headlined by new blood, the launch 2K23 ratings settle “Luka vs Curry” and dictate Day One moves in MyTeam, MyNBA Eras, and more. There’s a lot to unpack (if you’re a Sixers fan), so dive into the Top 10 players list below and stay tuned for more NBA 2K23 ratings.

Top Overall Players in NBA 2K23
Giannis (97) or Durant (96)? LeBron (96) or Kawhi (94)? Jokic (96) or Embiid (96)? It’s easier to compare stars now as it’s very much Ja Morant (93) vs everybody, but it’s tough to argue 2K23’s Top 10 list as there’s six total players with a 96+ rating. The new arrivals of Jayson Tatum (93) and Jimmy Butler (93) mean there are also a few key departures (Damian Lillard, James Harden) and Steph Curry (96) is still at the top thanks to an NBA Finals MVP and his fourth ring in eight years.
Top Dunkers in NBA 2K23
For NBA 2K23’s rim rockers, Ja Morant (97) takes Zion Williamson’s (97) spot as the Top Dunker while Bulls swingman Zach LaVine (95) and Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon (95) return to help round out the five. Timberwolves’ guard Anthony Edwards (94) makes his debut with a 90+ dunk rating and rest assured, the 21-year-old from Atlanta, GA is a highlight machine that doesn’t believe in the concept of fear. He’s not interested in the NBA Dunk Contest, but he’s still a lock to win one.
Top 3PT Shooters in NBA 2K23
The best shooters are going to shoot and Steph Curry (99) is still automatic from the three-point line. The Finals MVP retains his 99 rating and there’s more of a gap than you’d think thanks to a few notable omissions (Joe Harris, Duncan Robinson) and with Klay Thompson (88) getting his first 80 overall since NBA 2K19. There’s still Durant (88) but don’t sleep on the Midwest; LA Clippers guard Luke Kennard (88) led the 2021-22 season in three-point percentage (44.9%) while the Grizzlies’ Desmond Bane (88) broke Mike Miller’s team record for threes made in a single season (202).
Top Rookies in NBA 2K23
With the 2022 NBA Draft behind them, Orlando’s Paolo Banchero (78), Houston’s Jabari Smith Jr. (77), and Detroit’s Jaden Ivey (76) are set to make their cases for “Best In Class”. Oklahoma’s Chet Holmgren (77) will miss the entire 2022-23 season due to a Lisfranc injury, but Sacramento forward Keegan Murray (76) is 2K23’s sleeper pick for Rookie of the Year as the Iowa Hawkeyes star was the nation’s top power forward and the MVP of the 2022 Las Vegas Summer League.
Top WNBA in NBA 2K23
Don’t sleep on the WNBA: Breanna Stewart (96) recently tied the playoff scoring record with 42 points and A’ja Wilson (96) has made her own case for MVP with rebounding props and a trip to the Finals. Jonquel Jones (94), Candace Parker (93), and Elena Delle Donne (91) round out the top five but notable omissions include Las Vegas’ Kelsey Plum, Phoenix’s Skylar Diggins-Smith and Atlanta’s Rhyne Howard, who went from being a Wildcats standout to 2022’s Rookie Of The Year.
