Netflix Is Making A Scott Pilgrim Anime With All Of The Live-Action Cast Returning

Netflix has just announced an anime adaptation of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, and the entire cast from the original live-action are set to reprise their roles.

As reported by Deadline, Scott Pilgrim is returning as an anime series, with all of the 2010 cast returning as their respective characters, including Michael Cera in the role of the titular character, as well as Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Ramona Flowers. Original director Edgar Wright also shared the news on Twitter, writing, “After much musing over the years about there being potential for an anime adaptation of ‘Scott Pilgrim’, I’m thrilled to say one is IMMINENT, with the whole cast back together and… you are going to lose your minds.”

Original creator of the comic Bryan Lee O’Malley is also attached to the project as an executive producer, writer, and showrunner, alongside BenDavid Grabinski (Are You Afraid of the Dark?), and Wright is also serving as an executive producer. The show is being animated by Science Saru, best known for another Netflix anime Devilman Crybaby, as well as the Akakiri and T0-B1 animated shorts from Star Wars: Visions.

“We’re getting the band back together!” O’Malley and Grabinski said in a joint statement. “A stellar cast, perfectly assembled by Edgar Wright. And, with Science Saru leading the phenomenal animation, we couldn’t ask for a better team for this adventure. We can’t wait for fans and newcomers alike to see what we and our partners at Science Saru have been cooking up. It’s going to be a wild ride.”

Also reprising their roles are Satya Bhabha as Matthew Patel, Kieran Culkin as Wallace Wells, Chris Evans as Lucas Lee, Anna Kendrick as Stacey Pilgrim, Brie Larson as Envy Adams, Alison Pill as Kim Pine, Aubrey Plaza as Julie Powers, Brandon Routh as Todd Ingram, Jason Schwartzman as Gideon Graves, Johnny Simmons as Young Neil, Mark Webber Stephen Still, Mae Whitman as Roxie, and Ellen Wong as Knives Chau.
