Netflix Geeked Week featured an update on the Splinter Cell anime series, made in conjunction with Ubisoft and John Wick creator Derek Kolstad.
The first image of main character Sam Fisher from the anime series was shown, with a gruff expression and a noticeably gray beard, suggesting the series will feature an older version of the character.
Sun Creature and Fost are handling the production, and specifics on the project are still being kept under wraps for now. Aside from Kolstad writing the series–he is not writing John Wick 4 after penning the previous trilogy–we don’t know who is on the creative team or in the cast. Canadian actor Michael Ironside famously voiced Sam Fisher for the first five games and did not return for Splinter Cell Blacklist, but subsequently returned to the role for DLC appearances in two different Ghost Recon games.
The Splinter Cell anime moves forward as the feature-length film starring Tom Hardy appears to be in development hell. It was announced several years ago, with little news since aside from that it’s technically not dead and that scripts were being worked on.
Splinter Cell was far from the only series to get an update during Netflix Geeked Week. We also learned more about the Cuphead TV show, which will star Wayne Brady as the dastardly King Dice.
