Netflix is reportedly working to secure a deal with Rian Johnson (Star Wars: The Last Jedi) on turning Knives Out into a proper franchise with two more sequels, according to Deadline. The sequels would see Daniel Craig reprise his role as protagonist detective Benoit Blanc, and unnamed sources are indicating the deal could be at least $400 million–likely more–therefore making it “one of the biggest streamer movie deals in history.”
While the payday is eye-catching, the real big news here is Knives Out potentially turning into a trilogy. Until this news, only one sequel was expected. Of course, as most of the information on this is coming via unnamed sources–and none of the principals yet offering a comment–it’s still unknown what release dates, potential plots, and production start dates might be.

Now Playing: Knives Out – Official Trailer
Johnson is doubling down on the mystery genre. Earlier this month, it was announced that Johnson had inked a deal with another streaming service, Peacock, for a 10-episode order for Poker Face. The show would be Johnson’s first television series, and all that’s known so far is it will be an hour-long series starring Natasha Lyonne (Russian Doll, Orange is the New Black). Maya Rudolph (Saturday Night Live) and Danielle Renfrew Behren (Kurt Cobain: Montage Of Heck) will co-executive produce along with Lyonne.
“I’m very excited to dig into the type of fun, character driven, case-of-the-week mystery goodness I grew up watching. It’s my happy place,” said Johnson in a release. “Having Natasha as a partner in crime is a dream, and we’ve found the perfect home at Peacock.”
