Netflix's Thunder Force Gets Trailer, Superhero Comedy Starring Melissa McCarthy And Octavia Spencer

Netflix has released an official trailer for Thunder Force, an upcoming action-comedy film “where supervillains are commonplace.” The film is slated to hit the streaming service on April 9.

In Thunder Force, Melissa McCarthy (Bridesmaids) and Octavia Spencer (The Shape of Water) are “two estranged childhood best friends [who] reunite after one devises a treatment that gives them powers to protect their city.” After an accident in the lab when McCarthy is visiting her scientist pal, she inadvertently takes the only formula for super-strength, which, Spencer explains, means “everything about you will become stronger.” Check out the trailer below, which also includes the surprise curveball that Spencer has the power of invisibility.

In addition to McCarthy and Spencer, the film’s cast includes Bobby Cannavale (Mr. Robot), Pom Klementieff (Avengers: Endgame), Kevin Dunn (Transformers: Dark of the Moon), Melissa Leo (The Big Short), Jason Bateman (Ozark). Thunder Force is written and directed by Ben Falcone (The Boss), who is McCarthy’s husband.

McCarthy and Falcone were recently (grainily) spotted in photos posted online of the pair filming cameos for Thor: Love and Thunder, with the former wearing a Hela costume.
