Players got a fresh look at Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 during the 2023 Xbox Showcase, which featured a new trailer captured via the game’s Unreal 5 engine.
The sequel to 2017’s Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice continues Senua’s story, and the new trailer gives players another look at the game’s beautifully detailed facial animations. In it, Senua can be seen traversing a dank, damp cave as ethereal, otherworldly voices whisper around her, showing off the game’s sound design as well as its stunning graphics.

Now Playing: Senua's Saga: Hellblade II Trailer | Xbox Games Showcase 2023
After touching a particularly “talkative” puddle–at the behest of the voices–the surface of the water solidifies, then shatters like glass as a figure drags Senua through the shattered surface to whatever mysteries lie beneath. Developer Ninja Theory stresses that all of the footage from the trailer is exactly as it appears in-game, with the game’s page on Xbox’s website declaring that the upcoming title was built specifically for the Xbox Series X–“the fastest, most powerful Xbox ever.”
Though no precise release date was given, the trailer confirmed the game is still scheduled for release sometime in 2024, and will be available for day-one play via Game Pass for PC and Xbox Series X|S. The title will also be available for purchase on Steam.
