Preorder Mr. Mega Man Volume 1
Later this year, fans will get to see a very new take on Mega Man with the official English localization of the Mr. Mega Man manga series, which takes place in a future where the Blue Bomber hangs up his Buster arm cannon and moves on to face his greatest challenge instead yet: adulthood. Publisher Udon Entertainment is handling the English localization, and fans can preorder the first volume ahead of its launch on December 10.

Written by Yuushi Kawata with art by manga artist Yukito, Mr. Mega Man takes place years after the events of the mainline Mega Man series in a future where Dr. Wiley has been defeated. “The world no longer needs Mega Man, and a grown-up Rock now leads a peaceful life working as a dentist” the official synopsis reads. “The Robots Masters have new careers as well… Cut Man is a barber, Flame Man is a chef, and Top Man is an online influencer. Yet as these dreamlike days pass by, a shadow of turmoil lurks on the horizon.”
The 194-page Mr. Mega Man Volume 1 launch on December 10, and preorders are available for $13 at Amazon. The original Japanese version of the manga, known as Rockman-san, ran for 44 chapters and received two volume collections, so chances are we’ll see a Mr. Mega Man Volume 2 in the future, too.
In case you’d like a more traditional Mega Man adventure, there are a few other manga series to choose from. Mega Man Mastermix: Robot Rebellion follows the Capcom hero during his first missions to save the world from rogue robots, Mega Man Mastermix: Asteroid Blues shifts the action to outer space, and Mega Man: Gigamix sees the hero go head-to-head with Dr. Wily’s nefarious bots in a race around the world. Finally, the second Gigamix volume introduces the ultra-powerful Stardroids, a race of evil alien automatons who want to destroy Earth. Mega Man on his own isn’t a match for them, so he has to team up with Dr. Wily and his robots to save the day.
