For a shortened work week here in the United States, there’s a slightly truncated week of new shows and movies on Netflix. The busiest day ahead will be Friday, but fortunately there are still a couple of releases peppered throughout the weekend afterwards and the days ’til then to help keep things interested.
While 007: No Time to Die continues to get delayed again and again, Netflix’s new documentary series Spycraft is a nice way to bide some time. Coming out on Wednesday, the show is basically a version of MythBusters–though not at all affiliated with that show–for people wondering if all the stuff Q gives to James Bond has any roots in reality. There’s tons of context for the gadgets that are dug into, as the show also goes deep on the historical context for each bit of gear and why it was revolutionary at the time for espionage.
For something completely different, Friday sees the long-awaited release of Blown Away: Season 2. Yes, the show is another competition series, but it scores off the charts for originality–the show features 10 master artists who compete in glassblowing sculpture challenges for the chance to win $60,000 in prizes. The first season aired way back in 2019 on Netflix, which means you have the whole week to get caught up on and totally sucked into the phenomenal and unique show.
Finally, Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous is back for another season this Friday, and if you can believe it, the teens are still on the run from dinosaurs. In this season of the animated spin-off from the hit movie series, the kids will run into some “eco-tourists,” but may be right to be suspicious of them. Again, it’s almost like this whole idea for an adventure camp where kids can get gobbled up by dinosaurs might be a bad idea.
