A new featurette for Scream has been released. The fifth movie in the hit horror franchise releases on January 14.
The “Return to Woodsboro” featurette focuses on legacy cast members Neve Campbell (Sidney Prescott), Courteney Cox (Gale Weathers), and David Arquette (Dewey Riley) as they discuss the original film and their reasons for returning to the series. Or as co-director Matt Bettinelli-Olpin (Ready or Not) says, “We can’t do this new Scream justice if all three don’t come back.” Clocking in at a little over a minute, the featurette should get long-time fans pumped and newcomers a sense of the franchise’s history.
Scream also stars Jack Quaid (The Boys), Melissa Barrera (Vida, In the Heights), and Jenna Ortega (Insidious: Chapter 2, Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous). The previous four movies were all directed by Wes Craven, who died in 2015. However, Kevin Williamson, who wrote all the other films, remains on board as executive producer of the new film.
A recent character poster promoting the movie coyly reveals Ghostface’s identity. In related genre news, the first trailer for another big horror franchise sequel–Texas Chainsaw Massacre–was released in December. For more, check out GameSpot’s guide to the biggest upcoming movies of 2022.
