New Super Mario Lego Sets Let You Build Adorable Goombas And Horrible Penguins

A new expansion set is being added to Lego’s Super Mario line, giving fans of Mario 64 a chance to finally face off against nature’s remorseless killing machine. That’s right: You can finally take on penguins with this set, although you will face these fiendish creatures in their natural environment. Put the set on a table, and you can reenact that infamous mountaintop scene from Super Mario 64.

Priced at $20 and launching on December 1, the Super Mario Penguin Family Snow Adventure Expansion Set is a quick build using 228 pieces. Once you’re done, you’ll have a cute but deadly habitat populated by a brick-built penguin, a baby penguin, and a Goomba figure with a winter hat. There are also two fish to grab here, if you want to weaken the penguins by depriving them of their regular prey.

This zone has an ice slide that can be converted into a rink, and if you have a Super Mario, Luigi, or Peach figure, you can interact with this set using the digital elements of those toys.

For something even better, you can also add Nabbit at Toad’s Workshop to your order. Also available starting December 1 and priced at $20, this 230-piece set recreates Toad’s charming shop and includes several terrific extras, like an ice-cream dispenser, furnace, stands filled with accessories, and a shopping cart.
