Nightingale – How To Get Guns

Most of your Nightingale playthrough is spent using tools with your hands and bashing foes in melee. However, you do gain access to better weaponry so you can deal damage from a distance. Here’s our guide on how to get guns and firearms in Nightingale.

How to get guns and firearms in Nightingale

You can get guns in Nightingale upon obtaining firearm blueprints so you can craft them via a Refined Workbench. Here’s a quick summary:

You won’t have access to these blueprints from the get-go. Instead, you must first complete main quests until you acquire the Provisioner Card.By crafting and combining Realm Cards–i.e. the Provisioner Card plus any biome–you’ll be able to visit a Provisioner Realm. You can purchase blueprints from Essence Traders in these Provisioner Realms.Alternatively, you can follow the objectives of a main quest to receive these blueprints as rewards.

Getting guns in Nightingale as part of a quest

After obtaining the Provisioner Card, you’re told to chat with Wilhelmina Sasse, a quest giver NPC in the Abeyance Realm. She tells you about a certain Lawman, who was last seen in a Forest Provosioner Realm. That means you have to go to the portal device and combine a Provisioner Card and a Forest Card.

Upon spawning in the new world, open your map to see the location of the Lawman, Bass Reeves. In our case, we found him in the southwestern corner of the map. We then had a chat with him, and we chose to “lie” about the person who sent us to search for him. He eventually mentioned that we should arm ourselves.

Arming yourself simply means that you need to have a ranged weapon and enough ammo. For these, you should craft the following via a Simple Workbench:

Ranged weapon: Simple Slingbow – Requires 1x Wood Bundle and 2x Straps (which come from Animal Leather).Ammo: Simple Rock Marble – Requires 6x Rocks.

How to complete Bass Reeves’ Target Practice quest

Once you have the Simple Slingbow and a bunch of Simple Rock Marbles, you’re one step closer to getting guns and firearms in Nightingale. The goal now is to complete the Take Aim and Shoot portion of the Target Practice quest. It requires landing three headshots and two heart shots:

Landing headshots is fairly easy since the heads of enemies are readily visible.Landing heartshots, however, might be tougher. We had a bit more luck when fighting Bound enemies, as opposed to wild animals. As an aside, we recommend unequipping any tools/weapons that an NPC recruit is using. This is to prevent them from accidentally killing your intended targets.

In any case, the following will get unlocked once you’re done with this task: 1x Brazier, 1x Lancaster Pistol, 1x .451 Revolve Cartridge, 1x Marksman Card, 2x Conveyance Infusion (Ranged Damage), and 12x Powder (Sulfur).

Where to buy blueprints for guns and ammo

Alternatively, you can directly purchase blueprints for guns and ammo in Nightingale. As mentioned earlier, these come from Essence Traders in Provisioner Realms, though these vendors sell different wares depending on the biome card that you picked. Here are some examples:

Forest Provisioner Essence Trader (i.e. in the same world where you met Bass Reeves) – Lancaster Pistol.Swamp Provisioner Essence Trader – Chassepot Rifle.Desert Provisioner Essence Trader – Smoothbore Shotgun.

Each firearm blueprint costs 15x T1 Essence. Additionally, the Refined Workbench also costs the same amount of currency.

In any case, this is how you get guns in Nightingale. Note that building the Refined Workbench requires 4x Lumber, 1x Carved Wood, and 1x Mechanical Gears. Likewise, you need a lot of Ingots if you want to craft firearm parts and ammo. Still, having stronger ranged weapons is ideal as you make your way through even tougher realms.

Nightingale lets you travel to distant realms, with their own rewards, dangers, and opportunities. For more tips and information, you can check out our guides hub.
