Two more classic games are now available to play for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers. Both F-Zero: GP Legend and F-Zero Climax made their debut on the service’s Game Boy Advance library on October 11.
Originally released in 2003 and 2004, respectively, GP Legend and Climax are the final two F-Zero games released for the Game Boy Advance. In addition to the standard Grand Prix and Time Attack modes, GP Legend boasts a story mode and an extensive roster of racers.
F-Zero Climax, meanwhile, has previously never been localized, making this the first time it is officially available outside of Japan. It features a course editor and is notable for being the series’ final new installment. Following Climax’s release, the F-Zero franchise remained dormant for more than 19 years until F-Zero 99 arrived in 2023.
As mentioned, both games are now available to play through Nintendo Switch Online’s Expansion Pack plan, a premium tier of the online service that grants subscribers additional benefits, including access to classic Nintendo 64 games and select DLC expansions for some Switch titles. An individual membership costs $50 USD a year, while a family plan costs $80 USD and covers up to eight Nintendo Accounts.
That’s not the only news for F-Zero fans. The aforementioned F-Zero 99 has also recently received a free 1.5 update, which introduced a new Grand Prix league and content from the long-lost Satellaview F-Zero game, including five additional tracks and new machine decals. F-Zero 99 is free to download for all Nintendo Switch Online members.
