The drama Nomadland, Pixar’s Soul, and the dark thriller Promising Young Woman were among the big winners at this year’s BAFTA awards. The British film awards ceremony is seen as an indicator of who might succeed at the Oscars later this month.
Nomadland won the most awards, claiming four of the seven it was nominated for. These were Best Film, Best Actress for Frances McDormand, Best Director for Chloé Zhao, and Best Cinematography. Soul won Best Animated Film and Best original Score, and Promising Young Woman took home awards for Outstanding British film and Best Original Screenplay.
