Halloween is approaching, and Prime Video is priming its new horror baking competition show, Killer Cakes. Similar to Food Network’s Halloween Wars which features cakes and pastries with horror themes, Killer Cakes comes from a collaboration of Blumhouse Television and Cake Boss creators High Noon Entertainment. The two-part special is hosted by original Scream and Five Nights At Freddy’s star, Matthew Lillard.
“Bakers with terrifying skills attempt to win some of the most frightening challenges ever produced for television,” the official show synopsis reads. “Contestants will work with the best horror special effects artists in Hollywood to unleash their twisted imaginations and create cakes so disgusting, disturbing, and realistic, that it’s the stuff of nightmares.”
Eight bakers from across the country will compete in the show for the championship and $20,000 in prize money. Lillard will be joined by expert judges such as Danielle Harris (the Halloween movie franchise) and celebrity baker and author Nikk Alcaraz (Peculiar Baking).
Lillard is quickly becoming a regular Blumhouse collaborator having done the live-action Five Nights At Freddy’s movie, and in all likelihood returning for the upcoming sequel. As for a return to the Scream franchise, never say never as Scream (2022) and Scream 6 had Skeet Ulrich’s Billy Loomis return as a ghostly vision.
Killer Cakes premieres October 8 exclusively on Prime Video.
