Pacific Drive is a game that emphasizes crafting upgrades so you can survive longer in the wilds. As such, it’s important to gather materials, even from objects and parts that you no longer need. Here’s our guide on how to use Garbage Pearls and the Matter Deconstructor in Pacific Drive.
How to use Garbage Pearls and the Matter Deconstructor in Pacific Drive
You can use Garbage Pearls in Pacific Drive by feeding them into Matter Deconstructors. That sounds straightforward enough, so here’s a quick summary:
Garbage Pearls look like shiny blobs, akin to a compacted trash heap. They’re also fairly rare. It’s possible to find them when you interact with Friendly Dumpsters in the junctions that you visit all over the zone. You might also discover some in a select few containers, albeit as random loot.Once you’ve built the Matter Deconstructor (more on this in the next section), simply transfer the Garbage Pearl to the machine’s inventory. It will automatically churn out several parts and resources.
Matter Deconstructor: Crafting components and uses
The Matter Deconstructor in Pacific Drive is unlocked via the Fabrication Station in your hub. Simply check the Garage tab for the blueprint, which has the following prerequisites:
You must have unlocked the Scanning Antenna, Gear, and Craft Mat. These are all part of an early-game task. You also need 35x Scrap Metal, 4x Gear, and 4x Electronics. These are obtained by dismantling objects, vehicles, and appliances with the Scrapper tool.Lastly, you should have 0.8 Stable Energy, which is gathered from Anchors in the stable Outer Zone.
Once you have the blueprint tube, select an area in the Auto Shop hub where it should be built. Upon construction, you’ll be able to place various items inside the machine’s inventory. The Matter Deconstructor will then recycle the item churn out all sorts of random resources. Here are some additional tips:
As mentioned earlier, you should place Garbage Pearls here so that they can be turned into useful components. Garbage Pearls tend to yield a lot of parts for your crafting needs. We don’t advise placing stacks of raw materials, such as Plastic, Rubber, Copper Wire, and the like. That’s because the Matter Deconstructor will usually just devour the resource without giving anything back in return. We do recommend tossing in any old or damaged car parts that you no longer need: For instance, let’s say you’ve already unlocked Steel components and your Matter Regenerator has already repaired certain parts. If you still have Crude Doors or Crude Panels that are damaged (and you don’t plan on repairing them), just throw them inside the Matter Deconstructor to gain various metal resources.
In any case, this is how you use the Matter Deconstructor and Garbage Pearls in Pacific Drive. If you think managing resources is quite tough, you should take a look at our beginner’s guide and inventory storage guide.
